I HEART HAWAII!
the sun was gorgeous, and i miss wearing my flip flops and shorts. the weather was awesome, just that i think i have 3rd degree burns from all the sun i got! hehe my back and my arms are still reddish from tanning on sunday. and i tried surfing! but i am awful at it. it would be fun if i had a better sense of balance! (and yes, linda, i did see some shuai ges and mei nus. but mostly the latter. there were too many old farts around the beach haha)
it was good to meet up with sarah again. i've been apart from singaporeans from so long that sometimes it takes a while to code switch. of course, travelling with a bunch of singaporean scholars means spending big money too. lol. we took a short flight over to big island to see the mauna loa volcano. which is pretty cooL! reminded me of jurassic park. we also watched traditional polynesian dance at paradise cove, and the food (traditional kalua pig!) was pretty good.
it was a short trip, but i enjoyed every minute of it. except the part when i got sun burnt and when the rocks took out 2 chunks of flesh from my feet. that's why i'm walking with a slight limp now.
right now, i'm in berkeley! its a few degrees (make that at least 40 F or 10 C) colder than hawaii. its a good way to acclimatize myself to the cold again, before i head back to minnesota.
looking forward to eating asian food in cali. and wine tasting in napa valley. i decided not to go to yosemite, cause i think its too cold to go there for hiking.
my last spring break! as an undergrad. (: my whole undergrad experience has been kind of bittersweet. hopefully everything works out. *cross my fingers* pray for me! (yes, no matter what denomination you are in, pray for me!)
