i'm so glad i joined new students weekend! :D NSW for short. had our first meeting last night, so i spent valentines day with like 120 other pple haha
pretty fun! played ice breakers, and i'm looking forward to become an orientation leader again! yay! :)
did i say that my camera died? the battery cover is spoilt, and its held up together by tons of scotch tape haha
feeling tired now. having late nights the past few days studying and doing hw. this is the life man hahaha
i think there's more to life than material pleasures. though a new camera would certainly be useful.
most of the americans i've met are more concerned about working their way to college.
and oh yar, yesterday during cultural plu. class, we were discussing about diversity in schools. the first thought that came to mind was that even though u see diversity everywhere in singapore, in schools workplaces hawker centres, u hardly experience diversity save for the gastronomical pleasures.
know what i mean? like in pri. school, all my friends were chinese. in secondary school, the same. and in jc, save for dear dear anuja, i can't think of anyone else of a different race that i was really close to.
and its interesting to see how this so called 'diversity' i am immersed in has hardly prepared me for interacting with pple of another culture. sure i am well aware of racial/cultural sensitivities etc., but i think there's still a tendancy for me to stick with asians, and more specifically, chinese pple.
probably human instinct, but seriously, i think we need to do something about it in the schools of singapore. and so i think i should aspire to become the education minister instead haha
oh well. serious thought of the day i guess.
